The Nusa Dua Electric Vehicle Zone Will Be Valid November 11

VIVA – Several areas in Nusa Dua, Badung, Bali will become Special Electric Vehicle Zones during the G20 Summit and valid on November 11 to 18, 2022. This aims to support the commitment of member countries to transition from high-emission energy to low-emission energy.

The head of the Bali Provincial Transportation Service, I Gde Wayan Samsi Gunarta during the handover of electric vehicles from Lazada and Smoot for the G20 Summit, in Badung, Bali on October 11, 2022, said that the period for the validity of the special zone for electric vehicles in some areas of Nusa Dua could not be determined because waiting for the central government's decision.

However, the special zone for electric vehicles will apply when the G20 Summit takes place in Nusa Dua on November 15 to 16, 2022.

As for the location, Samsi Gunarta conveyed that the plan for the Special Electric Vehicle Zone in Nusa Dua will cover the ITDC Nusa Dua, Siligita, Sawangan to Samabe Bali Suites & Villa areas in South Nusa Dua.

"The exact location has not yet been determined, because it is still waiting for a decision from the central government. However, the area that is included in the zone is ITDC Nusa Dua,” Samsi Gunarti remarked.

"Therefore, the Bali Provincial Government will prepare public transportation such as electric-powered buses and shuttle buses in the Electric Vehicle Special Zone to serve the needs of passers-by or people who are active in the area." Samsi Gunarti added.

It is known, there are 616 electric vehicles prepared for the G20 Summit activities in Nusa Dua, Badung, Bali. Of that number, 493 cars were intended for delegates, while 123 electric vehicles were for security and operations.

Not only that, 290 units of electric motorcycle will be used by patrol and escort police during the G20 Summit activities.

For supporting the use of electric vehicles during the G20 Summit, PLN has prepared an ultra-fast charging Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU), and other charging stations scattered at the G20 Summit location, namely at The Apurva Kempinski and at the delegates' places to stay in Nusa Dua, as well as at Central Parking ITDC Nusa Dua.

"We have prepared SPKLU infrastructure, namely 70 SPKLU ultra-fast charging units, of which 66 units are installed, and 4 spare units, then 200 home charging units, and 21 SPKLU fast charging units spread throughout Bali," The PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said on the sidelines of his activities in Bali, August 2022.
