According to Minister Retno, history has taught us that this phenomenon can lead to a major war. She gave an example of how the period leading up to World War II was. There was a feeling of depression, the rise of ultra-nationalism, competition for resources, and competition between big countries that took place at that time.

"This is similar to what we are facing today. We have handled this challenge in the wrong way. We have been divided not united. We have worked individually not collectively. We have focused on words rather than acts," the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Marsudi explained.

In her speech, Retno offered a new paradigm. The win-win paradigm is not zero-sum. The paradigm of engagement is not containment. The paradigm of collaboration is not competition.

"This is the transformative solution we need," Minister Retno remarked.

Minister Retno said that this new paradigm revived the spirit of peace. He also mentioned how the spirit of peace had already been carried out by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo who carried out missions to Kyiv and Moscow last June.
