- U-Report
VIVA – Indonesia consists of several regions and inland villages. It turned out that there was a village that only inhabited by seven families. This village is called Kampung Pitu. Kampung Pitu is located at the top of Nglanggeran Ancient Volcano, Yogyakarta.
The name Kampung Pitu is a description of the village. Pitu in Javanese means seven, and this village is only inhabited by seven families. These rules have existed since time immemorial and continue to be preserved to this day.
According to local beliefs, if the rules for residents of only seven families are violated, one of them will die.
Once upon a day, it was said that there were people from outside Kampung Pitu who suddenly died because they wanted to stay in the village. Besides, only those who were chosen were strong enough to live there. No one knows the origin of the village.
To be sure, this village originated from a competition that was once held by the Yogyakarta palace. The contents of the competition said, who strong enough to guard the kinah Badung wuluh heirloom tree at the top of the Ancient Volcano, then they will be given land to live with their children and grandchildren, but only up to seven families.
At that time, the competition was won by Mbah Iro Dikromo, who became the first resident of Kampung Pitu with his family. Over time, the descendants of Mbah Iro Dikromo increased, but the rule was that only seven families lived in Kampung Pitu.
If some children and grandchildren later marry, then he must live in another area. If the rules are violated, the villagers believe that their lives can be at stake. For example, one of the family will get sick, or quarrel with neighbors.
Even more terrifying, a family member in Kampung Pitu could die suddenly. But, despite the existing myths, Kampung Pitu can still be visited as long as you don't live there. The peak of Kampung Pitu is the best sunrise and sunset hunting location because of the beautiful scenery.
Above the peak, Kampung Pitu presents the beauty of the Ancient Volcano on the west side and the Nglanggeran Embung from a height that is suitable for healing. However, the road to see this beauty is quite steep.
