Schedule of Japan Open 2022: Jonatan, the Minions Play Today

VIVA – The prestigious Japan Open 2022 match enters the round of 16. There are 11 Indonesian representatives such as Jonatan Christie, and Kevin/Marcus or known as The Minions who will compete today September 1, 2022, at Maruzen Intec Arena Osaka, Japan.

Jonathan Christie is ahead with seven wins. Jonatan will meet the Japanese representative, Kenta NIshitomo in court 1. Based on BWF records, the Indonesian representative is 7-5 ahead in their meeting against Nishitomo.

Meanwhile, the women's single Gregoria Mariska will meet and play Taiwan's representative, Pai Yu Po on court 2. This match will be the first meeting between the two players since the Japan Open 2017.

Apart from Jonatan Christie, Gregoria Mariska, and Kevin/Marcus who play today, there are still eight other representatives from Indonesia who will fight to secure a place in the quarter-finals of the Super 750 level tournament.

Mixed doubles Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari is the only one who faces a tough challenge because they have to deal with the Chinese pair who won the Tokyo Olympics gold, Wang Yi Lyu/Huang Dong Ping.

Rinov/Pitha have so far been winless in their four meetings with Wang/Huang, including at the 2022 World Championships last week when Rinov/Pitha lost two straight games 16-21, 14-21.
