Jokowi Asks Japan to Accelerate Completion of Jakarta MRT Project

VIVA – President Joko Widodo held a meeting with the Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at the office of the Prime Minister of Japan, Tokyo. The meeting was part of a series of Jokowi's working visits to Japan.

On that occasion, President Jokowi asked for a number of strategic projects in collaboration with Japan to be completed immediately. So, it can have a faster impact on the Indonesian economy.

"I convey several strategic projects so that their completion can be accelerated," Joko Widodo said, quoted from the Cabinet Secretary's official website on Thursday, July 28, 2022.

President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo said a number of strategic projects, including the Jakarta MRT for North and South, are being built. Then Phase II and also East-West for Phase I.

Not only that, Joko Widodo also mentioned the industrial estate development project in West Papua. Expansion of Patimban Port, and Patimban Access Toll Road.

"We also discuss the commitment of cooperation for the continuation of the Masela Gas Project,” Joko Widodo added.

Jokowi also said, in the processing of those projects, Indonesia hopes for the support of knowledge and new technology from Japan. Especially, for down streaming of natural commodities.

"As well as the development of electric cars and motorcycles, as well as the health and food sectors," he remarked.

In addition, Jokowi also discussed regional and global issues, he expressed his appreciation for Japan's support for Indonesia's presidency at the G20 to make a significant contribution to global economic recovery.
