PRSI Holds the National Aquatic Championship Starts Today

VIVA – After a two-year absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Executive Board of the Indonesian Swimming Association (PB PRSI) is ready to hold the National Aquatic Championship titled the Indonesian Aquatic Festival (FAI). This championship will take place at the Gelora Bung Karno Aquatic Stadium, Jakarta on July 26 to August 2, 2022.

As information, FAI 2022 will compete in four sports disciplines, namely swimming on July 26 to 29, then water polo on July 26 to 30, there is also diving on July 30 to August 2, and also artistic swimming on July 31 to August 2 and Master Swimming on July 30, 2022.

"Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the FAI was suspended for two years. Thank God, we are able to roll back the FAI and of course in accordance with the applicable health protocols," the Chairman of the organizing committee, Ali Patiwiri said.

"Hopefully, this national championship can be a competition for aquatic athletes to be the best," Ali Patiwiri added.

The swimming sport is attended by around 600 swimmers who will be divided into 43 male and female competitions which are divided into four Age Groups, namely seniors (19 years and over), KU-I (16 to 18 years), KU-2 (14 to 15 years), and KU-3 (12 to 13 years).

The preliminary round starts at 8 am to 1 pm and the final at 5 pm. The final round will be broadcast live on PB PRSI's YouTube account and ANTV Sports Lens YouTube.

While water polo was attended by around 156 people aged 18 years and under divided into male and female categories. The women's category from July 26 to 27, 2022 is followed by four teams, namely DKI Jakarta, Yogyakarta, West Java A and West Java B.

In the men's category, they will compete on July 28 to 30, followed by DKI Jakarta A and DKI Jakarta B, West Java, Jambi City, Jambi Province, Yogyakarta, South Sumatra, North Sumatra.

The artistic swimming sport took place from July 31 to August 2, followed by 54 athletes from five provinces and two clubs namely DKI Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Central Java, East Kalimantan and two clubs JAQ and TT 66.

For the diving sector, which will be participated by 95 participants, it will take place July 30 to August 2 divided into five Age Groups (KU), namely open KU (19 years and over), KU-A (16 to 18 years), KU-B (14 to 15 years), KU-C (12 to 13 years) and KU-D (11 years and under).
