VIVA – Two national runners, Agus Prayogo and Odekta Elvina Naibaho won the 2022 Indonesia International Marathon (IIM). This marathon event held in Denpasar, Bali on Sunday, June 26, 2022. As known that these two runners are medal winners for the 2021 Vietnam SEA Games.

Agus Prayogo managed to finish the men's marathon in 2 hours 36 minutes 16 seconds. Meanwhile, Odekta Elvina who won the gold medal finished the race in 2 hours 53 minutes.

Despite being the champion, Agus has not succeeded in breaking the national record held by Eduardus Nabunome who was able to complete the marathon in 2 hours 19 minutes 18 seconds at the 1993 National Sports Week in Jakarta.

Nevertheless, Agus is still satisfied with his achievements.

"2 hours 19 minutes is not easy, especially when I run in a tropical country, I think the humidity in Denpasar is not much different from Jakarta, it's quite heavy," Agus said in a written statement to KONI.

Agus surely that with the big prize challenge, the National Record will be solved one day.

"Honestly, this is an event that dares to challenge athletes to break the National Record," Agus said.

"Hopefully, in the future, it can become an annual event. With a challenge like this, I'm sure that the record will gradually be broken," Agus added.
