VIVA – So far, there are 22.515 Small and Medium Industries (IKM) have entered digital literacy, and 14.125 have been on boarding. It was said by the Director General of Small and Medium Industries and the Ministry of Industry, Reni Yanita on Monday, June 20, 2022.

"Currently, 22.515 IKM have entered digital literacy and 14,125 IKM have been on board with us collaborating with several marketplaces," said Reni while attending an FMB9 web seminar,

Reni explained that the Directorate General of IKMA has carried out the e-Smart IKM program to capture and improve the digital literacy of IKM players in Indonesia since 2017. Through this program, the Ministry of Industry seeks to improve digital literacy, marketing, and digitally presenting IKM products.

According to Reni, this is in line with the Making Indonesia 4.0 program for the empowerment of SMEs and the Proudly Made in Indonesia National Movement (Gernas BBI).

Indonesia National Movement BBI itself started from when Indonesia experienced the COVID-19 pandemic or in May 2020 which was proclaimed by President Joko Widodo to encourage a people-based economy to keep going.

"So, the demand is how IKM can continue to produce but we present it differently. So, the target is how IKM can present their products digitally. Because our demand is how to reach a wider market," said Reni Yanita.

With these demands, BBI is targeting to increase onboarding IKM to 30 million by 2023 from the current 11.7 million IKM.

"In addition, we increase our consumer purchases or spending on artisan products. So, at BBI we are trying to increase the value of certain products for our consumers to buy," said Reni.

Furthermore, added Reni, is how Indonesia National Movement BBI encourages the government and well-known brands to play a role in the success of the program. (ant)
