VIVA – The popular instant messaging application WhatsApp will end support for older iPhones, especially on older versions of the iOS operating system, namely iOS 10 and iOS 11. WhatsApp has started notifying users running iOS 10 and iOS 11 that the messaging app will stop working on their devices unless they upgrade their software.
The change will come into effect on October 24, 2022. So, users still have some time to update the software or buy a new phone. It’s reported that WhatsApp will reportedly end support for iPhone users on iOS 10 and iOS 11.
WhatsApp did this to implement new changes and improve the security and safety of user privacy with several fixes. So, WhatsApp will no longer be available for owners of iPhone 5 and iPhone 5C or devices running iOS 10, iOS 11 or earlier versions.
Users will no longer be able to send WhatsApp messages, photos, videos or the latest services provided by the platform as of October 24, 2022.
As such, WhatsApp will support devices with a minimum of iOS 12 and above. It will allow users to enjoy WhatsApp features such as reaction emoji and so on.
To avoid the blocking, users must immediately check for software or software updates on the iPhone device so that they continue to use WhatsApp. But, if you don't get the iOS 12 update, then the user, like it or not, has to buy a WhatsApp-supported device.
Not only that, WhatsApp makes these changes regularly to keep its app up-to-date with the latest technology. The old outdated iOS version has been ticked off the list by WhatsApp.
People that use the latest iOS version, WhatsApp is constantly adding new features to the platform. Whatsapp also regularly tests upcoming features through beta versions available to select users.
