A number of Hindu religious ceremonies are often held at Tanah Lot Temple. One of them is the Piodalan or Pujawali ceremony which is the temple's birthday. The Piodalan ceremony is held once every 210 days according to the Saka calendar (the calendar of Hindus from India) or four days after the Kuningan holiday.

When the Piodalan ceremony is held, visitors will see a procession of pemedek. Pemedek is the name for Hindus who come to attend prayers at the temple without any specialties such as descent or kawitan.

Usually, this pemedek accompaniment comes from various parts of Bali and arrives around 4 to 6 days when the sea water is receding. The tourists are also allowed to mingle with pemedek.

Therefore, tourists keep coming to see the Piodalan ceremony.
