BloombergNEF Summit, Anindya Bakrie Reveals Investment Opportunities

VIVA – The Deputy General Chair of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry who is also the CEO and President Director of PT Bakrie and Brothers, Anindya Bakrie give an explanation regarding his presence at BloombergNEF.
Anindya explains, that a good energy transition is needed for Indonesia and also the rest of the world. Especially with an issue about climate change, where we should do something big to reduce carbon emissions.
In Indonesia, the potentials for developing new and renewable energy are very large. Not only from the forests that already exist nowadays, but also other assets such as swamps to mangroves.
"Which can be an asset to absorb a lot of carbon," said Anindya in a program of “Apa Kabar Indonesia Pagi” at TvOne on Wednesday April 20, 2022.
One of the most important thing to achieve the goal, is about financing. Meanwhile, Indonesia has also moved towards a change in renewable energy. Anin, as he is usually called, said that current power plant that currently uses coal will move toward renewable energy slowly.
"All of this is discussing how developed countries can work together," he said.
Anin also explains, that the goal is not only to improve the world's climate. But, there is an impact by bringing industrialization to developing countries and making people more progressive, including Indonesia.
"The mission is simple, we want to be builders, not just viewer" he explained.
According to him, this is a good momentum to invite developed countries to invest in Indonesia. Moreover, Indonesia became the G20 Presidency. His presentation at the forum, as well as speeches from Coordinating Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan and others, attracted quite a bit of attention.
"The response looks very good and they are very interested," he said.
Although there are problems between Russia and Ukraine, Anin hopes that differences can be resolved and they can end up together. Further, he explained the hope of this is how investment can enter Indonesia. If that happens, certainly the welfare of people will be wider. Including helping entrepreneurs later.
"But also to UMKM (small and micro business) will enjoy all of this. How Indonesia also can be super power in help the world for reducing emissions,” he explained.
